A Rainy Day

I hear God's grumbles in the sky, it is raining and light streaks across the sky. My twin brother is making a journey to Houston for medical care. I have put him in God's hands where I know he will be safe. I am beginning a spiritual journey myself, via an on-line retreat, it is difficult but I will put one foot in front of the other and try to do "right thinking".

I am working hard on my photography. Completed two sessions this week. The first one was to celebrate 50 years in marriage to a lovely couple, and the second was a senior portrait.

I will post a few pics here from these sessions.

Freedom

Wyoming

Meditative moment at the ranch.

Work Today

Didn't realize it would take so long to get back to this blog. Tried to download some pictures but no luck, I'll try again. Hey, there it is. That's me playing my
1993 Martin D28 (special 1935). Love the Patina.
It has great sound too. When I strum these strings my heart is soothed and my soul is renewed. It's a meditative thing, like praying and actually I am praying most of the time.

As always I love seeing my twin brother. He looks good, and seems happy and glad to be alive. Lord knows how hard it has been for him with all the pain, complications, air-med flights causing all of us to stop our lives and focus on what is important. I am so thankful to God for taking care of him. I didn't want to lose another brother.

That's my bro playing my guitar, Judy is having a good time. Looks like one of those old Roy Rogers photos, doesn't it.
More later,
Neets

New Guitar/Trip to Wyoming

Friday I headed out to Wyoming to visit my twin brother. I always get excited when I know I am going to see him. I'm driving my cowgirl rig/King Ranch Ford truck, barreling down Highway 80, good tunes on the radio - Bluegrass or Willy's Roadhouse. I have my new guitar, camera and a few cowgirl shirts and jeans. I stop in Evanston and buy a bottle of Vodka at the discount liquor for later, and buy a roasted chicken sandwich for lunch. Gas is cheaper so I fill up. Now I'm on a two lane highway traveling close to the speed limit (got a ticket last trip) of 65. I creep through Woodruff, Randolf and head over towards Salt Pass and when I see Afton I'm wondering if I should stop at the Dog Eared Book Store, but decide to keep going as I'm anxious to see my bro.

Oops...more later, Bruce is home, got to cook dinner.

Title of my new Song

Title of my new song is "The Ghost of Santa Avira Del Bac" (until further notice). lol.

First Official Recording

My, my what a day. You see I wrote this song yesterday, and I liked it right off the bat. The words are from the heart and the melody just came with it, sort of. I sang it to my hubby this morning. He said, "that's some song you wrote." Well, that was good enough for me, I was ready to share it with the world. Ha ha.

So I went to my favorite guitar store, Riff's. Had the Mayor Dana make me a cup of coffee while I inquired as to whether I could take a guitar class (without an appointment of course). No one was available, so I hung out, played an old arch top, and then sat down to share with whoever was sitting in the coffee shop. Met two guys. One of them was a guitar picker and the other a poet, but not a musician...I could tell he had an ear and he had trusty eyes, so I showed him my song. He seemed to like it. We talked some more and then I found out he was setting up a recording studio. I told him I hadn't much luck trying to record myself. So he said "why don't you come on over to the studio and I promise you, you'll leave smiling with a Polished CD in your hand."....Imagine that. I just wrote my song yesterday, and here I was going to record it already. Like I say you never know what your going to be doing in the next ten minutes.

I started getting nervous....had to pee a dozen times, but I decided to go on over to the studio and see what was happening there. Next thing I know, I'm playing my song and singing it too.
Being recorded. He played it back, and to tell you the truth, I was flabbergasted. It didn't sound too, too bad. Course I knew where I flubbed up, but it wasn't bad. Now I have a CD with me singing and my new song. We talked about edits in the lyrics...and working on the song and then planning in the future, producing it with other instruments....aha...bass, another guitar for melody, me strummin' the rhythm and maybe a mandolin or fiddle. A girl's dream come true. Now, the moral to this story was it all started with me putting my thoughts down on my laptop computer, playing it and adding chords...and the thing is when it's recorded and you play it back, it's out of my head and there it is coming back at me. If that isn't the darndest thing.

I'm sending the song out to the Universe tonight...hahha....stay posted and see what happens.

Yours truly,
Neets
