This lovely picture in snow was taken by my friend, and professional photography, Ida Countryman Johnson of Sweetwater Photography. I designed and hand sewed this gown for my daughter, Ellen's wedding over a couple decades ago. Now my granddaughter, Jennifer, is modeling her Mom's dress, and the wonderful news is that her little baby, Zach Jr. is due any moment now. Looking at this lovely picture I was inspired to write this
song - thinking of winter setting in, and all those soldiers who are ready to come home...

It's winter time in our mountain home,
It's been a long time you've been gone,
I'll wait for you till the end of time,
I'm waiting now, for you to be mine.

The leaves on our apple tree have fallen,
Apple pie is baking in the oven,
Dog's waiting by the kitchen window,
The log in the hearth is burning now.

The snow is falling,
The wind is howling,
Calling you home to me.

I've put the down quilt on our bed,
I have dreams of you, dancing in my head,
Our baby can say daddy now, and he's crawling,
It's winter time, and the snow is falling.

The snow is falling,
The wind is howling,
Calling you home to me,
Calling you home to me.

My hubby Bruce helped me write this song. He said it was fun to see the process of how I put the words together with a melody. I don't know how it happens, it just does, a gift from heaven above.
I'll post a recording later today.

Photographed The Red Desert Ramblers this week. Lighting was very hot, many challenges with 5 people, hats and sun, but I "gotter done".

Raining today. Thunder. Knitting.

It is raining today. Very dark sky and that is how I feel. I miss my Jimmy. This process of grief is very humbling. I am dabbling in my photo editing and that helps. Guitar sucks today, but voice is good.

The Notch

We went to The Notch, to hear our friends, Walt, George and Carl play (Cowboy Camp).
The Notch is a little bar at the edge of the Uintah Mountains near Kamas. The music was
great as usual and I made a set list on a napkin as I hope to learn the songs so I can sing
with them from time to time. A bar fight broke out and there was some shoving around.
Kind of exciting, really. A girl who was poured into her jeans, and very little on top dragged
the worst offender of the men shoving around, and tried to distract him with her sexiness, on the dance floor to no avail. So, the band decided it was time to play a gospel song. I wonder if the
young lady realized she was trying to vamp that unruly man by dancing to a gospel song. It all
was very funny and a songwriter's dream night.

you'll still be gone,
and int he morning light,
I'll still be alone.

4. Select soft focus on the drop down menu in the "layers menu at right".
5.Merge or flatten the image.
6. Select "Mini Fusion/pink cadillac" apply to picture.
7. Use "Mini Fusion/select lighten skin.

9. In black and white image, I used paint brush to add light blue in the eyes, and pink in T shirt and ledge for balance, directing your eye to the model.

Here it is March 13, 2012, and, my twin brother is gone. I don't know how I am going to manage without him. We could talk for hours and always be on the same page. Well, sometimes I didn't totally agree, but what the heck it was never important to make a point of it. I look at my cozy dining room and think how normal it all looks, pictures and cupboards I've had for so many years, and they are still there in that room, and where are you. And will probably still be there, after I'm gone. I wonder sometimes if it is all real, or imagined, maybe we just lose the ability to hear and touch, see the things so important to us. Perhaps we could just conjure them up again. Wouldn't that be nice. I miss you Jimmy. Lonely today. The wind is blowing, a storm is coming in. Nothing to do, but missing you.
