This lovely picture in snow was taken by my friend, and professional photography, Ida Countryman Johnson of Sweetwater Photography. I designed and hand sewed this gown for my daughter, Ellen's wedding over a couple decades ago. Now my granddaughter, Jennifer, is modeling her Mom's dress, and the wonderful news is that her little baby, Zach Jr. is due any moment now. Looking at this lovely picture I was inspired to write this
song - thinking of winter setting in, and all those soldiers who are ready to come home...

It's winter time in our mountain home,
It's been a long time you've been gone,
I'll wait for you till the end of time,
I'm waiting now, for you to be mine.

The leaves on our apple tree have fallen,
Apple pie is baking in the oven,
Dog's waiting by the kitchen window,
The log in the hearth is burning now.

The snow is falling,
The wind is howling,
Calling you home to me.

I've put the down quilt on our bed,
I have dreams of you, dancing in my head,
Our baby can say daddy now, and he's crawling,
It's winter time, and the snow is falling.

The snow is falling,
The wind is howling,
Calling you home to me,
Calling you home to me.

My hubby Bruce helped me write this song. He said it was fun to see the process of how I put the words together with a melody. I don't know how it happens, it just does, a gift from heaven above.
I'll post a recording later today.
